Whether you’re setting up a new business or planning to rebrand your existing company, you’ll need to make sure that you get your logo design on point. It’s an increasingly crowded marketplace so you need to ensure your company stands out for all the right reasons.

A recent article for Creative Bloq spoke to a number of design experts to find out what they think 2020 and the decade ahead has in store for logo design.

One of the trends that’s set to continue is the move towards simple and minimalist logo designs. A number of high-profile brands have streamlined their logos in the past year, including MasterCard, Facebook and Warner Bros.

However, Dan Bramham, senior designer at Greenwich Design, told the news provider that he believes the simple and minimalist trend can lack personality. It could be worth bearing this in mind if that’s the look you’re going for.

Meanwhile, Adam Murdoch, senior art director at Grady Britton, said that one of the trends to watch for companies looking to stand out is bringing authenticity and narrative to their branding. To embrace this trend, he said that it’s important brands don’t end up with logos that look like design templates.

“The coming year is an opportunity for brands to be truly authentic and allow the history and narrative to be a living part of their stories and visuals,” he asserted.

In the luxury marketplace, clean typography is an important trend to watch, the news provider added.

Earlier this year, we offered some advice about how to avoid some of the most common ecommerce branding mistakes, including failing to narrow down the audience you’re trying to appeal to and therefore targeting too broad of a demographic, and making sure that you have a clear and consistent brand identity.
